Open event in Scarborough Central Library
Un événement ouvert au public a eu lieu à la Bibliothèque Centrale de Scarborough
Scarborough library is one of the key partners in the From Local To Global project, although the history of its connection with Harrison extends beyond this. The collection itself was originally displayed at the library in the small meeting room before being moved to Woodend, and the library still holds some of the letters, diaries and photo albums. The two organisations are working closely together on the project, delivering joint research sessions to support Citizen Researchers, as well as with the learning team looking to support the delivery of research training to primary children exploring animal species and habitats locally and those further afield. The library has a wealth of primary resources around Scarborough, from details of the shops that were here at the time, through to back issues of The Scarborough Evening News. For those looking to be involved as Citizen Researchers the library offers access to newspapers from across the UK; Ancestry.Com; FindMyPast; Oxford Online; and Who’s Who – amongst others, which as members of the library people are able to access in greater detail for free. In addition to those research sessions and drop-ins being offered by the two organisations, the library has an ongoing Archive group which meets every Thursday evening, meaning that people who want to be part of the project, but are unable to attend the day sessions, can still be involved.

La bibliothèque de Scarborough est l'un des principaux partenaires du projet 'Du Local Au Mondial', bien que l'histoire de son lien avec Harrison ne s'arrête pas là. À l'origine, la collection était exposée dans la petite salle de réunion de la bibliothèque, avant d'être transférée à Woodend, et la bibliothèque possède toujours certaines lettres, certains journaux intimes et certains albums photo de la collection. Les deux organisations travaillent en étroite collaboration sur le projet, en organisant des sessions de recherche conjointes pour soutenir les chercheurs citoyens. Ils soutiennent aussi l'équipe pédagogique; cet équipe se dévoue pour aider l'enseignement des techniques de recherche aux enfants du primaire qui explorent les espèces animales et les habitats locaux et plus lointains. La bibliothèque dispose d'une multitude de ressources principales sur Scarborough, y inclus les détails des magasins de l'époque et des anciens exemplaires du journal local – le Scarborough Evening News. Pour ceux qui souhaitent participer au project en tant que citoyens-chercheurs, la bibliothèque offre l'accès aux journaux de toute la Grande-Bretagne; sur les sites web Ancestry.Com, FindMyPast, Oxford Online et Who's Who, entre autres, auxquels les membres de la bibliothèque peuvent accéder gratuitement. En plus de ces sessions de recherche et des visites libres offertes par les deux organisations, la bibliothèque dispose d'un groupe d'Archivistes qui se réunit tous les jeudis soirs, ce qui signifie que les personnes qui souhaitent participer au projet, mais qui ne peuvent pas assister aux sessions de jour, peuvent tout de même être inclus.

PAP-RDC (Support
PAP-RDC is a non-profit association in the DR of Congo providing a Support Programme for the Development of Forest Populations, including the Pygmies. It aims to invest in sustainable development actions in favour of the populations living in the forests through three components: Humanitarian Aid, Protection and Food Security, with Advocacy and Organisational Development as cross-cutting themes. Each of these areas is an entry point for interventions to contribute to improve the living conditions of forest-dwelling communities. These 3 aspects are linked and PAP-DRC believes that a holistic approach is needed to advance sustainable development in these forest communities.

But analysis of the problems and needs of the beneficiaries has shown that effective work against poverty should not be limited to responding to food and non-food aid emergencies. Poverty is essentially the root of inequality, social injustice, vulnerability, insecurity and conflict. The eradication of poverty therefore requires improvements beyond economic and technical progress. It also involves improving the resilience of communities, and access to basic rights; in other words, a greater capacity of communities to meet their own needs and to make informed choices. Hence, the aim is to build the capacity of individuals and communities living in the forests to take action to solve their problems and to continue to do so in the future.
PAP-RDC, qui travaille depuis bientôt 12 ans dans la partie appelée Grand Nord de la Province du Nord-Kivu et dans le District de l’Ituri en Province Orientale, voudrait s’investir dans les actions de développement durable en faveur des populations riveraines des forêts à travers trois volets : Aide humanitaire, Protection et Sécurité alimentaire, avec comme thèmes transversaux : Plaidoyer et Développement Organisationnel.
Chacun de ces domaines constitue un point d’entrée des interventions pour contribuer à l’amélioration des conditions de vie des communautés riveraines des forêts. Ces 3 aspects sont liés entre eux et PAP-RDC pense qu’une approche holistique est nécessaire pour faire progresser le développement durable au sein de ces communautés forestières.
Mais l’analyse des problèmes et besoins des bénéficiaires a montré que la pauvreté ne se limite pas seulement à répondre aux urgences de l’aide alimentaire et non alimentaire, mérite reconnu à PAP-RDC dans les années antérieures. La pauvreté est, pour l’essentiel, l’enracinement de l’inégalité, de l’injustice sociale, de la vulnérabilité, de l’insécurité et des conflits. L’élimination par conséquent de la pauvreté nécessite des améliorations au-delà des progrès économiques et techniques. Elle implique également l’amélioration de la résilience des communautés, et l’accès aux droits fondamentaux ; en d’autres termes une plus grande capacité des communautés à satisfaire leurs propres besoins et à faire des choix avisés.
Pascal Mirindi - Extinction Rebellion
Pascal Mirindi is a 23 year old student, who has been an activist within Extinction Rebellion, University of Goma, for the past two years. Extinction Rebellion is a decentralised, international and politically non-partisan movement using non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to persuade governments to act justly on the Climate and Ecological Emergency.

Pascal MIRINDI, âgée de 23 ans ,suis étudiant et activiste au sein de l'extinction rebellion université Goma où j'ai suis il ya déjà 2 ans . Extinction Rebellion est un mouvement international, décentralisé, autonome, et apartisan, ayant recours à l’action directe non-violente pour faire pression sur les gouvernements, afin qu’ils prennent enfin les mesures radicales nécessaires pour faire face à l’urgence écologique et climatique.
